Characters:
Ava – recently got a new job offer in another city
Noah – her best friend who’s lived in the same town forever
Ava: Hey Noah, guess what?
Noah: Uh-oh, is it good or bad?
Ava: It’s huge! I just got a job offer… in Seattle!
Noah: Whoa! Seriously? That’s amazing! But… wait, you’re moving?
Ava: Yeah, if I accept it. It’s a big step, I know. I’m super excited but also kind of nervous.
Noah: Wow. I mean, I’m really proud of you, but I didn’t expect this. When would you have to move?
Ava: End of next month, if everything works out. They want me to start by the 15th.
Noah: That’s so soon. Have you ever even been to Seattle?
Ava: Just once, on a college trip. I loved the vibe — the art, the coffee, the rain. It felt cozy.
Noah: Yeah, definitely rainy. But still, it’s a cool city. So, what’s the job?
Ava: Marketing coordinator for a startup. It’s a hybrid role — some days in the office, some remote. Really creative stuff.
Noah: That sounds perfect for you. But are you sure you’re ready to move so far away?
Ava: That’s the part I keep going back and forth on. I’ve lived here my whole life. I’ll miss my family… and obviously you.
Noah: We’ll definitely miss you too. But it could be the adventure you need, right?
Ava: Exactly! I feel like I’m stuck in a routine here. This might be the change I’ve been waiting for.
Noah: I get that. I’ve thought about leaving before too, just never pulled the trigger.
Ava: Maybe you should visit once I’m settled in! I’ll have a guest room — or at least a comfy couch.
Noah: You know I’m down for a trip. As long as you show me the best coffee spots.
Ava: Deal. So, what do you think? Should I go for it?
Noah: Honestly? I think you’d regret it if you didn’t. It’s scary, yeah, but it sounds like an amazing opportunity.
Ava: That’s what my gut says too. I guess it’s just hard saying goodbye to the familiar.
Noah: Totally understandable. But hey, nothing says this has to be forever. You can always come back.
Ava: True. But who knows — I might fall in love with Seattle.
Noah: And then I’ll be telling people, “Yeah, my best friend lives in Seattle and is killing it!”
Ava: Aw, thanks Noah. You’re the best. I needed to talk it out with someone who knows me.
Noah: Anytime. Just promise me one thing.
Ava: What’s that?
Noah: Don’t disappear. Weekly video calls, at least.
Ava: Promise. I’ll even give you a virtual tour once I find an apartment.
Noah: Deal. Go chase that dream, Ava. I’ve got your back.
